The company
ZEDCE: 75 years of expertise in precision machining in the heart of the Arve Valley
Founded in 1946 by Messrs. Zwallen and Chretin (initials Z and C = ZedCe), ZEDCE has a unique history in the screw machining industry.
From machine manufacturer to precision machining expert, ZEDCE has evolved while maintaining its DNA: deep technical expertise, a culture of rigor, and a passion for micron-level precision.
Today, 100 employees work across 9,000 m² of modern workshops in Marnaz (Haute-Savoie), in the heart of the Arve Valley, the global hub for screw machining.
Our mission: to support the most demanding sectors—aerospace, medical, automotive, and hydraulics—with CNC machining, grinding, superfinishing, and assembly solutions that are fully integrated under one roof.

Our history: from machine construction to industrial excellence
1946 – ZEDCE founded
The company was founded by Messrs. Zwallen and Chretin in the Arve Valley, the historic epicenter of French screw machining.
Initial mission: to manufacture screw machining machine tools to meet the growing demand of the local industry.
1946-1968 – Machine manufacturer
ZEDCE designed, manufactured, and installed approximately 500 screw machining units throughout the Arve Valley.
This period forged a rare dual technical competency: mastery of machine design and a deep understanding of their optimal operation.
This unique expertise now allows ZEDCE to:
- Optimize machining settings and parameters,
- Anticipate deviations and adjust processes in real time,
- Guarantee extreme tolerances through intimate knowledge of the equipment.
1968 – Strategic pivot to production
- ZEDCE ceased machine sales to focus entirely on industrial production: machining, grinding, lapping, and superfinishing.
Goal: to put our acquired expertise to work for our clients by becoming a trusted technical partner.
1980-2000 – Development and modernization
Growth in the automotive and hydraulic markets.
Successive investments in CNC lathes, high-precision grinding, and initial quality certifications (ISO 9001, then ISO/TS 16949 for automotive).
2000-2026 – Innovation and diversification
Staubli robotics for maximum competitiveness and productivity. Development of superfinishing (honing, lapping, vibratory finishing).
Strategic diversification into aerospace and medical (EN 9100 and ISO 13485 certifications targeted for 2026-2027).
Industry 4.0: ERP/MES, advanced metrology (CMM, vision), SPC.
In the heart of the Arve Valley, the global hub for screw machining

Based in Marnaz (74460), Haute-Savoie, we benefit from a strategic location in the heart of the Arve Valley, also known as the Technic Vallée.
The Arve Valley by the numbers: 65-70% of French screw machining companies are concentrated in this region.
More than 400 specialized industrial companies.
A complete ecosystem: tool suppliers, heat and surface treatments, metrology, and logistics.
Our geographical advantages:
- Proximity to specialized suppliers: reduced lead times, maximum responsiveness,
- Skilled labor pool: multi-generational expertise, local vocational training,
- Dense industrial network: partnerships with SNDEC, CETIM, and Pôle Mont-Blanc Industries,
- Accessibility: close to the A40 motorway, Geneva airport (35 km), and Lyon airport (150 km),
ZEDCE has been a recognized, historic player in this ecosystem for nearly 80 years.

Operational Team:
Qualified and certified CNC operators (HAAS, Kellen lathes), grinding technicians expert in extreme tolerances
- Metrologists trained in advanced equipment (CMM, industrial vision),
- Methods engineers for process optimization and customer technical support,
- Quality department ensuring compliance and traceability,
- 102 employees dedicated to your success.
Our values: rigor, responsiveness, and commitment to results
Technical rigor and quality
Every machined part undergoes rigorous inspection (operator self-check, final inspection, advanced metrology).
Our goal: zero defects delivered to the customer.
Current certifications: ISO 9001, ISO/TS 16949 (automotive).
Target certifications 2026-2027: EN 9100 (aerospace), ISO 13485 (medical).
Responsiveness and commitment
We commit to precise schedules and dependable deliveries.
Our "all under one roof" approach (machining + grinding + superfinishing + assembly + treatments) eliminates back-and-forth between subcontractors and drastically reduces lead times.
Team spirit and knowledge transfer
ZEDCE recognizes that its employees are its greatest asset. Investing in training means investing in the longevity of the company and the quality we deliver to our customers every day.
Transparent communication, listening to ideas, and recognizing a job well done. ZEDCE = a human-centric company, not just a production machine.
Continuous training and knowledge transfer
15% of our staff are apprentices: we invest heavily in training young talent to pass on our expertise and prepare for the future.
Our training approach:
- Local apprenticeship partnerships: UIMM, Pôle Formation Rhône-Alpes, vocational high schools
- Internal technical training: skills development in CNC, grinding, metrology, Industry 4.0
- Soft skills training: management, communication, workplace safety
- Participation in local events: career fairs, open houses, discovery internships 2030 Goal: 20% of staff in apprenticeships or certification training.
- Quality training: ISO certifications, compliance processes, risk management

Zedce Philosophy
The ZEDCE story began in 1946: Messrs. Zwallen and Chretin founded a screw-cutting machine tool manufacturing company in the heart of the Arve Valley.
For 22 years, ZEDCE manufactured approximately 500 machines in the global cradle of this industry.
In 1968, a strategic turning point: ZEDCE ceased machine sales to become an expert user.
This unique transition forged a rare dual competence: intimate knowledge of machines and mastery of the most demanding production processes.
At ZEDCE, precision is not just a technical specification; it is a culture.
From CNC machining (±0.05mm) to grinding (±0.01mm) and mirror superfinishing (Ra <0.1µm), every step reflects this absolute commitment.
Based in Haute-Savoie, we benefit from a unique industrial ecosystem with proximity to Lyon, Grenoble, and Geneva, providing access to automotive manufacturers, aerospace suppliers, and players in the medical and luxury watchmaking sectors.
This geographical responsiveness allows us to support international projects in aerospace, space, medical, and energy.
What sets ZEDCE apart?
Our ability to manage the entire chain under one roof: multi-axis CNC machining (HAAS/Kellen/Staubli), complete grinding, superfinishing (honing, lapping, tribofinishing, polishing), managed treatments, and final assembly.
One quote, one point of contact, total traceability, and controlled lead times.
